We're going to talk today about history, and the concept of history. History, the view of the past, is always colored by the visions and political opinions of the present. Most of the history books - in fact - almost all the history books and obviously all of the videos, and all of the media relating to history that the Western world reads was published after 1945, thus it reflects a vision of trying to reinterpret - and all too often misinterpret - the past, to justify the American political and economic system. And it's very important to understand that as a result of World War II and the beginning of World War III, the Cold War, that the American system was imposed on Europe and Japan and the scholarship in Europe and Japan was heavily influenced by the American occupation, and then later, the alliance with America against the Soviet Union. And this alliance with America gave America and American ideas tremendous control in Europe and Japan. Less-so in Japan than in Europe, but still, that's a factor.
Now unfortunately, this whole American world order is creating a complete disaster. The details of the environmental disaster are overwhelming. The details of the economic disaster - the whole point of destroying the environment was that they were to create this great economy, that there was going to be jobs, jobs, jobs, and so on, well let's check that out. The minimum wage is back to where it was in the 1950s; average wages are back to where they were in the early 1960s; we could go on, but obviously for people who are not at the top of American society, this has not worked. And when we mean the top of American society, we are also talking about the liberal establishment, which is heavily represented in the large foundations in America, and very heavily represented in the giant educational industrial complex, particularly in the colleges and universities who have hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars at their disposal, and keep in power, and provide jobs for a very well-financed liberal elite. So the American system, which is an uneasy relationship between the plutocrats and the liberal establishment, this is the structure of the American system. Now as we mentioned, this is crumbling.
Our job is to talk about the real past and the real future. And the real past was a violent past. As the status quo collapses, there's going to be a kind of primeval reawakening around the world. Unfortunately, this is tended to be interpreted in the context of the 1960s flower-power movement, pacifism movement, whatever you want to call it, which had a lot of good things. But the flower power aspect of this is frankly garbage. The pagan religions were often filled with violence, ritual torture, human sacrifice and so on. So it's important to understand that as this collective unconscious reasserts itself, there's going to be a tidal wave of violence. Now you also have to take into consideration the concept of fate, of God, of the overall structure of nature. The American world order and its sort of subset, the Communist world order, which is now being subsumed into the American world order, as China's emerged as a kind of fascist state, this has been the greatest assault on nature in the history of the world. That's very important to understand.
Nature's got billions of years. Nature is not in any danger whatsoever. But the perversions of the current world order are setting the stage for a counter-reaction on the part of nature, which is not going to be pretty. It's going to be very bloody in itself, and you have to bring up issues such as and what you might call an "X-factor event," such as a solar EMP storm, which could shut down electronics in any part of the world that it hit. So, this whole situation is generating a huge amount of bad karma, and we are going to elaborate on this in the future lectures.
CHRISTIANITY'S ROLE IN TODAY'S WORLD ORDER
Now we're going to talk in this lecture about our report on the violence of the primeval past, and its reawakening in the present. Christianity, when it seized control of the Roman Empire in the year 395, unleashed a reign of terror unlike which the ancient world has ever seen. And this reign of terror continued right up until the 18th century. Now, after Christianity began to fall apart on an institutional level, but still very, very prevalent right up to today, you had a emergence of other political movements in the West - both, all of which, by the way - were sort of almost all of which were growths of Christianity. In certain elements of fascism, for the first time you had a direct challenge to Christianity. While communism claims it challenges Christianity, many aspects of communism are in fact an outgrowth of Christianity. But anyway, in 1900, the Western powers took over most of the world, and we assured that this was all to be great, so on and so forth. Well obviously, this led to a wholesale bloodbath: World War I, World War II, the Cold War, so on and so forth.
THE BRUTAL NATURE OF THE PRIMEVAL PAST
But the end result of this has caused some people to look back in the past and see a fairytale world all of pre-Christian pastures; everybody living in the forest and being happy as a clam living peacefully, and so on. And the purpose of this article is to point out that that's rubbish. It doesn't in any way mean to diminish the horrors of Christianity, it's to wake people up to take a realistic view of the overall level of violence in life. Some people talk about "oh, the world's so dangerous now, there's so much violence" - absolute rubbish. The world today is a study in peace and tranquility compared what it normally was.
THE COMING BRUTALITY OF FUTURE
But this peace and tranquility has been bought by borrowing against the environment, and by borrowing also against the financial structure that the justification for the destruction of the environment is supposedly building this great economy, but now the economy itself is borrowing against itself. You can see where that's going, not too good. So, it's important to understand the violent nature of what's coming, and get ready for that. Get ready for a world in which vast numbers of people are going to die.And in the middle of all this - what's always been in the middle of all this - democracy committed suicide in ancient Greece. Pericles tried to make the world safe for Athenian democracy as sort of ancient Woodrow Wilson. This had a predictable result: he wrecked Athens, and then Alexander the Great swept what was left of Greek democracy into the trashcan of history. In Rome, democracy also failed, and Augustus Caesar swept what was left into the trashcan of history, and this is what's going to happen here.
THE COMING CAESARS, THE COMING DICTATORS
So, we need to think creatively about the coming Caesars, and to learn what we can from the past, and also tap into the collective unconscious. Nature is going to strike back. Yes it is. It's going strike back with a ferocious power. So it's important to think about that, too. Ideally, as we've said over and over again, it'd better if the system could work to reform itself, and we're going to do our part to try to encourage that. But there's always a dialectic in spending too much time on that, as opposed to getting ready for what is the near-certain future: the violent turmoil to come, and the emergence of the Caesars.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS WILL START SOLVING THEMSELVES
JUST NOT IN A WAY THAT HUMANITY WOULD LIKE
The situation is so screwed up right now that it's almost certain that that problems are to start solving themselves. The environmental problems are going to start solving themselves, and basically will treat a good part of the human race as sort of a virus which needs to be exterminated. Also, the structure of the the the human society is exterminating itself with the poisons of the green revolution, and so on. And so it's very unlikely that anybody will stop this, but this will stop itself, and out of this turmoil will emerge the Caesars.
AMERICA'S CURRENT LEGAL REVOLUTION THAT IS
SETTING THE FOUNDATION FOR TOTALITARIANISM
What's very interesting is that in the Western world today you have - first under Bush, also under Obama - a legal revolution towards totalitarianism that is truly breathtaking, particularly in new revelations about the NSA. So behind all the happy talk about everybody having human rights, and everybody having a marvelous time, which is all bullshit, the people in charge are already laying the groundwork for totalitarianism. So this is where things are going, and we are going to continue to study, we are going to continue to evolve, and we ourselves need to tap into music, art, the collective unconscious, to present a vision of the real future and a vision of the Caesars who are going to come and correct the current situation. End of lecture.
