REAL NATIONAL SECURITY 2021

TIME TO END THE NEW COLD WAR WITH RUSSIA AND CHINA

Audio Mp3 on Primevalvoid

What is real defense? What is real national security? Is defense about going into debt to fund endless wars? We understand that sometimes there is a need for war. However, at this point, it seems that America is addicted to wars abroad. And the trillions we spend on these wars take away from America's ability to focus on real security: such as safety from a global virus, an environmental crisis, an economic collapse and several other threats we face that are not being addressed.

Fortunately, in 2021, America has a new president and a chance for a fresh start. We would like to give President Joe Biden a chance to shift America's national security priorities away from what is excessive toward what is expedient. And we are encouraged by some of the steps he has already taken so far.

We do need to give credit where credit is due. We would like to applaud Biden for renewing the START Treaty. And also for several of his comments at his climate press conference, particularly about making climate a national priority. We think Biden is off to a good start.

As Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry said, "The stakes on climate change just simply couldn’t be any higher than they are right now. It is existential."

As President Joe Biden said, "It’s — that’s why I’m signing today an executive order to supercharge our administration ambitious plan to confront the existential threat of climate change. And it is an existential threat."

So this is a positive start.Unfortunately, much of our national security priorities up until now have been focused on delusions of imperialism. And this was radically amped up under former president Obama, rather than decreased. We would like to hope that Biden and his administration can learn from the mistakes of the past presidents and make better policies going forward. In this report we will take a look at what past presidents have done so we can explore what future presidents should do.

We also have some ideas at the end of this report for how America can lower tensions with China and Russia, so it can focus on the more pressing priorities of climate change, the Coronavirus and avoiding financial collapse.

OBAMA'S FOREIGN POLICY

THE ESCALATION OF WAR AND TENSIONS ABROAD

America spends more on war than the next seven nations combined. Note that we use the term “war.” Not “defense,” because it is very unclear that all this money is purely for defense. It is far more likely that a vast part of this money is to finance dangerous delusions of imperialism, that America is the indispensable nation and it needs to intervene all over the world and so on.  This is an idea that was directly condemned by moral leaders such as Martin Luther King.  Unfortunately, it was a key part of Obama's foreign policy, leading to a series of disastrous military interventions around the world from Yemen to Libya.

In 2020, the bankruptcy of this kind of thinking was revealed.  America was attacked by a virus.... not by Putin or Iran or Venezuela or other supposed villains.  The death toll and the financial cost is now higher than World War II.

This did not have to happen.  Like climate change, every serious scientist in the world who covers the subject had warned that an epidemic was coming.  Every expert warned that America's lack of national health insurance was a disaster waiting to happen if an epidemic struck.

In other words, this giant disaster was a direct result of wrong priorities by the U.S. foreign policy elite.

Unfortunately, far worse may be yet to come.  "Action" on clmate change has been a bad joke.   Carbon levels are going up....not down. Giant events in the world could happen at any time if real reform does not come in dealing with climate instability.  Massive famines could kill hundreds of millions. Famines swept the world in the sixth and fourteenth centuries due to climate change.  Unfortunately.... nature is not very impressed by political media events from establishment liberals.  Giant events could happen at any time if real reform does not come.  Massive famines could kill hundreds of millions.   The jet stream could change course adding to even more fatalities.

International cooperation is urgent to deal with the great climate threats of our time. Most scientists in the world are unanimous in stating that a certain level of climate change is already definitive and will not change at this point. But if human beings do not radically chance course in the next ten years, the level of climate change could become very hostile to all human life on the planet. So this is a very real and serious threat that everyone needs to take seriously, and that all nations should be working together on, instead of spending more money on nukes and billion dollar fighter jets.

In America, the U.S. foreign policy establishment is back in power after four years of chaos and disaster under Trump.

It is our hope that the new administration can learn from the past mistakes of Trump and Obama.

THE FAILED WARS IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND SOUTH ASIA UNDER THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION

We need to come to terms with the disastrous results of Obama's embrace of neoconservative policy. Obama bombed more nations than any US President since World War II.  Until he was stopped by the sequester, he proposed the largest war budgets since World War II.

The problem is that all of Obama's wars didn't work. America didn't bring democracy to Syria. It killed 500,000 people with the wars that supported and accomplished nothing. Indeed Obama's alliance with Saudi Arabia and his funding of Islamic extremists led to the creation of ISIS.  Obama didn't defeat the Taliban with his surge. Instead, the Taliban today is stronger than it's ever been. In fact, it is so strong, that the US is largely capitulating to a lot of the Taliban's demands as they try to leave Afghanistan.

One of the most horrific aspects of Obama's campaign of imperialism was his decision to ally himself with Saudi Arabia to crush a new government in Yemen. This didn't work. What it did succeed in doing is killing 200,000 people in Yemen and the death toll keeps rising creating the world's worst humanitarian disaster. Obama's intervention in the Sudan is another disaster, another government that was a complete failure and so on.

Libya was a total catastrophe and is an ongoing catastrophe. So, these wars didn't work.

OBAMA’S NEW COLD WAR WITH RUSSIA

The most serious problem with Obama's foreign policy was the start of a new Cold War with Russia. Since the end of the Cold War, the West and NATO betrayed their promise not to expand, and NATO today extends right up to the borders of Russia and is just an hour away from St. Petersburg. This is a very sensitive issue to Russia because they have been invaded twice in the last 100 years. And key battles in Russian history have taken place in areas such as Estonia. So the Russians have good reason to see the expansion of NATO as a direct threat.

Now in 2014, the very unstable state of Ukraine became even more unstable. We are not going to get into whether the CIA funded the rebellion or did not fund the rebellion. We will let somebody else sort that out. What we can confirm is that the modern state of Ukraine is an artificial creation, sort of the “Yugoslavia” of the Black Sea. It is an ethnically and linguistically divided nation. The Russian-speaking folk in the East are not too fond of the Ukrainian speaking folk in the West and the feeling is mutual. So a series of violent rebellions toppled a legally elected government in Ukraine and the Russians had very good reason to believe that the hostile anti-Russian government that came to power would threaten a vital Russian security asset, their naval base at Sevastopol in the Crimea.

Now the whole idea that the Crimea being part of Ukraine is kind of a joke in itself. This was a political decision in the Soviet Era, which transferred the Crimea to the Ukraine. So since Crimea was historically part of Russia, they had a powerful motivation to secure their naval base in the region. As a result of their doing that, the Obama Administration slapped numerous sanctions upon Russia. This has accomplished absolutely nothing other than just leading to endless dangerous tensions with Russia.

AMERICA’S SANCTIONS MAKE RUSSIAN OIL DRILLING LESS SAFE

Another issue, by the way, is whether the American sanctions against Russia on oil producing material could lead to oil spills, if these sanctions could lead to disaster by preventing the Russians from having the best equipment in drilling in dangerous areas. That's another factor to keep in mind. And America has been trying to sabotage the new Nord Stream pipeline which is almost completed to Germany. Why sabotage something that is almost done anyways? All this accomplishes is further tension with Russia.

TRUMP’S NEW COLD WAR WITH CHINA

When Mr. Trump came into power, he started a new Cold War with China by launching economic attacks against companies such as Huawei, trying to destroy some of China's key technology assets. These things should be considered as acts of the war. As are the economic sanctions against Russia, which are also acts of war. Mr. Trump's endless threats against China have led to an escalation in Chinese military spending and a troubling escalation in Chinese nuclear military spending as well as being very counterproductive from a trade point of view, which is supposedly what Trump claimed he was going to fix.

TRUMP’S DISASTER IN TRADE

Trump has made very little progress on trade and the trade deficit is as bad as ever. In the long run, Trump's actions are likely to be very damaging because the Chinese are going to restructure their economy to be less dependent on the West. As a result, America will be weaker. China will be stronger. So this makes very little sense.

CHINA IS RAMPING UP ITS PRESENCE IN THE SOUTH CHINA SEA

At the same time, the Chinese have not been too realistic in their behavior in the South China Sea and other areas such as the seas near Japan. They are making territorial claims that are quite farfetched. But all this leads to further tension.

HUMAN RIGHTS HYPOCRISY

This is a particularly ugly aspect of US history. After all, the promise of the Declaration of Independence clearly did not apply to African Americans and Native Americans for much of the U.S. history. Under Woodrow Wilson U.S. moral dishonesty sank to new lows.   Wilson was a racist who loved the Ku Klux Clan and totally betrayed his promise of the 14 Points.

While it is great that the establishment is now more focused on openly condemning the problem of racism in America, we must consider the hypocrisy of the same people in condemning violence at home while cheering on war abroad. America's endless wars have created some of the worst humanitarian and refugee crises that the world has ever seen.

Obama's "human rights" campaign left a trail of death and destruction in places like Syria, Libya and Yemen.

And was America really concerned with human rights when in 2020, hundreds of thousands of American citizens were killed because America had refused to provide health insurance to all its people?

NATIONAL SECURITY PRIORITIES FOR BIDEN

Now with the coronavirus crisis, this circus really cannot continue. It cannot, because after spending all this money on war, America now has lost more people and more money than it lost in all of World War II (thanks to its incompetent response to the virus). So the campaign of imperialism cannot go on. The US government now is in a huge financial crisis. So what should Biden do? The bottom line is we need to get real about national security.

Real national security involves life-threatening situations such as the plastic in the ocean. That's real national security, climate change, the global water crisis and so on and so forth. And there is still the possibility of even more virulent diseases in the future. For example, what if we have a plague that is much more deadly than the coronavirus? So, these are real problems. Also, the real problem that the US government is simply going broke.

TIME TO WIND DOWN THE COLD WAR WITH RUSSIA AND CHINA

So the Cold War with Russia and China need to be wound down. This doesn't mean going soft on Russia or soft on China. But the situation needs to be wound down, particularly in the case of Russia where an escalation of tensions could lead to a hot war and possibly a nuclear war.

What needs to be done?

A PEACE PLAN FOR UKRAINE

A peace plan needs to be developed for Ukraine. It's ridiculous to keep insisting that Crimea should be part of Ukraine. When understanding the history of Crimea, this seems like an absurd demand. The Ukrainian government is a basketcase. It's a mess. It's ridiculous to suggest the Russians should return Crimea to the Ukraine. So that's not going to happen. We should stop wasting time talking about that. We haven't got time for all this nonsense considering the scope of the crises America currently faces. So we should be willing to accept the presence of Crimea as a part of Russia, which certainly seems like the will of the Crimean people.

What to do about Donbass is going to be a trickier, but somehow this whole situation needs to be ended. It's not worth arguing about this. The New Cold War needs to come to an end.

The effort to destroy the Nordstream II pipeline needs to end.

TIME TO WIND DOWN ECONOMIC THREATS AGAINST CHINA

In the case of China, we need to have an adult discussion behind the scenes about the economic problems and put an end to direct acts of economic war such as the attempt to destroy Huawei. How would America feel if China tried to destroy Microsoft? Or Google? Would we just accept a foreign country trying to destroy US corporations? No, we would not. So that all needs to be wound down.

AMERICA CANNOT SOLVE ITS FINANCIAL CRISIS

WITHOUT WINDING DOWN THE COLD WARS WITH CHINA AND RUSSIA

Right now, Biden's situation frankly verges on hopeless because until the military spending situation can be brought down, the US government is in a financial crisis that is not resolvable. So these things need to be adopted. We will add to our plans on this, but we wanted to put forth this report to clarify thinking on this subject.

2021:  A MOMENT OF TRUTH FOR U.S. ESTABLISHMENT LIBERALS

It's time to fight real problems.   Furthermore, the continuation of confrontational policies towards Russia and China will likely lead to hot wars and nuclear wars.   You cannot claim to oppose climate change and support the imperialist ideas.   We need to come together as a planet to fight real problems.   If not, these problems are going to unleash a wave of disaster that we may not survive.
