EVIL RISE
Out of Salamanca, Spain comes dark heavy metal outfit Evil Rise. Fronted by the vivacious Sarah Evil, the band is already on their second album, Sentence to the World, and it's safe to say the band is on their way to establishing a name for themselves in the world of Spanish metal. Sarah Evil is accompanied by band mates Oscar Comendador (guitar and backing vocals), Alvaro Iglesia (guitar), Johnny Molina (bass), and Jorge Azofra (drums). Evil Rise presents metal fans with a headbang-worthy sound that blends influences of thrash, speed, and dark metal to create a spellbinding listening experience. Strong, clean vocals, relentless drumming and great breakdowns give off a sound that's reminiscent to the 80s, but well-polished by modern recording technology.
Front woman Sarah Evil has darkly captivating stage presence, and her songs boast a wide vocal range, able to sing in a strong, heartfelt voice and seamlessly transition to powerful growls within the same song. On stage, Evil Rise collectively seems to give viewers a badass show that is the best of both worlds when it comes to dark metal: musically powerful and aesthetically theatrical. Sarah Evil presents a fierce, raw energy and talent that is wonderfully brought to life by her supporting band mates, and gives the vibe of a metal star on the rise. She was the mastermind behind the lyrics - and cover art - for the 2013 release Sentence to the World, and also contributed her keyboard skills for the band's first album.
Evil Rise formed in 2008, and released their first album, In War and Hate in 2011. Guitarist Comendador and drummer Azofra were previously members of Mind Holocaust, a death metal band also from Salamanca, Spain. Influenced by defining metal acts such as Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Slayer, and King Diamond, it is evident that Evil Rise has learned well from the greats, but they are also more than capable of creating and mastering their own sound that is worth checking out by metal heads everywhere.
