Demona

Demona is a female-fronted, three piece speed metal outfit straight from Chile. Currently located in Canada, the group evolved from what started out as singer Tanza Speed's one-woman metal project. Near the end of 2007, Tanza's first band, Poisoned, disbanded. She took this opportunity to make her visions into a reality. An avid guitar player and ferocious singer, Tanza was eventually assisted by a friend in recording promotional singles. When the project still didn't transform into the band she hoped for, Tanza took the reigns and released her first demo CD on her own.

After releasing the demo, titled "Metal is Me," Tanza was invited by Vultur Gryphus to re-release the song, thus birthing the track "Metal is Still Me." On the path to promote her new project, Tanza recorded a second song, this time releasing her work under a label of her own design: Speed and Death Productions. Recording her first EP, Die in Violence, was no simple task. Most of the instruments were recorded by musicians that accompanied her live performances at the time. As for the guitar, vocals, and screams, Tanza recorded them each separately for every track of the EP.

About a year after Die in Violence was released, Tanza was approached to record a second demo, called Nightmare. This time, she was joined by a friend of hers, the drummer of Speed Force. The demo was released in 2011 along with a 7".

In June of the same year, Tanza moved to Quebec, Canada. There, she joined forces with a group of metalheads that would eventually become staple members of the heavy force now known as Demona: Gabrihell, lead guitarist; Jeff Iron, bass guitarist. The drummer at the time was excused from the band, but replaced with Hugo Uribe, drummer of Witchtrap, for the purposes of recording the new band's debut album. The album, Metal Through Time was released in early March of 2012. Later that month, the formation of the band became complete when drummer Antoine Pellerin entered the scene.

A few months later, Demona caught the attention of a Japanese label. The band started recording new heavy-hitting material for its second album,
Speaking With the Devil earlier this year in January.
