PHOTO SHOOT BRAINSTORMING [5.9.14]
FOR SHOOTS WITH JESSICA
Location Suggestions (If Jessica travels to Laurel):
- Heavily wooded area at the top of my street. This is where I've done a good number of my photo shoots, and it's a great location that has plenty of different areas to explore. There are some fallen trees, a couple of paths, and pure foliage everywhere.
- Laurel Lakes. Only about a 5-10 minute drive up the street from my house. This is the location I used for one of my first shoots last year (Album "Photos Laurel Lakes" in Dropbox if you need a visual example). There is a good stream/bank area we could use, and also large, visible tree roots in some areas.
Mock Schedule (Just a guess so we will have an idea of what we can accomplish in a day):
FOR DAYTIME SHOOTS:
- Jessica could meet me at my house around 11 am.
This way morning rush hour would be mainly avoided for her commute.
- We could then either eat an early lunch, or just get right into shooting.
- From 11am to 12 pm, we would have a good hour to explore at least one concept
or just configure our settings (poses, lighting, etc). We can then return to my
house to review the shots on the computer, and possibly swap out any clothing or
props needed for the next idea.
- Shoot another style (or re-shoot photos we've talked about, i.e. Chains) in
the afternoon, maybe from 2-3pm. If we cut off at 3 pm, we'd have plenty of
pictures to use and Jessica could start heading home before rush hour hits.
- Upload all shots onto Dropbox before the end of the day.
SIMPLE IDEAS TO START WITH:
- More ominous, powerful nature photos for
Jessica's portfolio.
- Revisit poses and themes that we have already used in photo essays, just to
get a better feel and to lead into new ideas for next time.
- Nature silhouette shots with dark trees behind.
- "Women of the New World" concept with badass poses using axe + slegehammer.
Props I Have Available Here:
- Heavy chains
- Sledgehammer
- Machetes
- Axe
- Faux gun
- Spear
- Animal mask
- Skull mask
- Candles of various colors (tall/short, black, white, red, green)
- LED Lantern
- Sunglasses, black gloves, variety of boots
ALTERNATIVE IDEA FOR MY PERSONAL NIGHT SHOOTS
To prevent anyone from making a long travel at night, with some notice I can ask which nights Dominique would be available to help me re-shoot some night ideas.
Al and I can go over the theme and ideas for the
upcoming shoot, and then Dominique and I can shoot the photo set on a Saturday
night or Sunday night (that way, I know for sure she would not be working late
and we would have time to configure the shots and not rush).
