BREEDING BIGOTRY & PAIN:
THE CHURCH'S CRIMINAL STANCE
AGAINST CONTRACEPTIVE USE

The Church, particularly the Catholic Church has been more than clear throughout history about its views and feelings on contraceptives. Catholics openly scorn the use of condoms and birth control, arguing the tired point that all pregnancies, regardless of the circumstances, occur as a part of God's will, and therefore cannot be prevented or terminated. Not only is this a close-minded and unrealistic point-of-view, but it is also an extremely dangerous one that has been breeding generation after generation of misinformation, overpopulation, poverty and health issues. Catholicism strictly prohibits the use of condoms not just because they may prevent a "holy" conception from coming into fruition, but they also like to pretend that teaching people - especially youths - about condoms and other forms of birth control will ultimately fuel people to go run amok and have copious amounts of mindless sex. The resistance of the Church to embrace the health issues surrounding contraceptive use are unnatural and are continuing a wave of death and disaster.

POISONOUS ARGUMENTS FROM THE CHURCH

The Catholic faith consistently exhibits symptoms of faux-Christian elitism, an observation proven by the fact that its leaders and forefathers actually had the audacity to alter the Ten Commandments to their fancy, and their strong, overbearing feelings on sex showcase the same bizarre mentality. According to the Catholic Church, "Contraception is wrong because it’s a deliberate violation of the design God built into the human race, often referred to as "natural law." The natural law purpose of sex is procreation. The pleasure that sexual intercourse provides is an additional blessing from God, intended to offer the possibility of new life while strengthening the bond of intimacy, respect, and love between husband and wife" (Catholic Answers).

This garbage is truly what the religious right is selling to people as natural, normal behavior? Though childbirth and conception are certainly natural occurrences and gifts of nature, it is not natural at all that the Church has any right to dictate what two people do behind closed doors, especially when they are married. To pretend as though pleasure is simply a side-effect of sex and not a purpose is inhuman. Sex does not exist solely for the purpose of creating the American Dream family with 2.5 kids, a white, picket fence and a stay-at-home-mom that wants nothing more than to bear children. Not that this is a terrible life goal, but it is not all that we're here for. The Church has tampered with natural law since it came into existence, long after the old religions had already been normalized on earth.

The only thing that Catholic leaders despise more than safe methods of contraception is abortion. Even in occasions where a pregnant woman has been a victim of rape, incest, or is simply not in healthy financial standing to raise a child, women who seek them out are treated as murderers without souls. Roman Catholicism upholds the view that "human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person - among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life" (Catholic Church and Abortion).

The above nuns seem very happy and content with the message that they are sending: "Every time a baby is aborted, love is denied." This mentality is delusional and completely negligent of a woman's feelings and especially a woman's right to her own body and freedom to make her own decisions. It is probably safe to assume that most women do not happily seek an abortion or look forward to it, and it can be a very depressing and traumatizing process to go through. But sometimes, an abortion is an act of love from an unprepared mother; she is clearly not ready to be a mother and possibly may be preventing her unborn child from having a painful or impoverished life. There is nothing happy about abortion, but it is backwards views like the above picket signs that force women to feel even more ashamed, and in some cases, seek unhealthy measures to terminate their pregnancy when religious figures have helped to withhold these women from safe, healthy procedures or methods of contraception.
