QUOTES FROM THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT
ON SEXUALITY AND MARRIAGE

The unnatural authority of the religious right is pretty two-faced when it comes to taking a stand on issues of sexuality. On one side of the fence, Christians denounce sex as sinful, especially outside of marriage. Then again, the Bible gives the OK to some deranged sexual rights. They promote their views as natural and helpful, when in reality, they are destructive and deluded.

SEX OUTSIDE OF MARRIAGE

"Only in marriage do we find God’s blessing upon the act of sexual love, or what is better termed, marital love." (Catholic News Agency)

So, are we supposed feel bad because premarital sex is not "blessed"? Oh, okay.

"Taking sexual love outside the context of marriage is contrary to the dignity of each person and of marriage. Our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, lamented the decline in respect for marital love in his encyclical The Gospel of Life: 'Sexuality too is depersonalized and exploited, from being the sign, place and language of love, that is, of the gift of self and acceptance of another, in all the other’s richness as a person, it increasingly becomes the occasion and instrument for self-assertion and the selfish satisfaction of personal desires and instincts' " (Catholic News Agency)

You know, because the Vatican is notorious for healthy, LEGAL sexual behavior.

"The Catholic Church continues to teach that sexual love between a man and a woman is reserved to marriage." (Catholic News Agency)

This teaching has done wonders to prevent sex between unmarried couples and unwanted pregnancies, don't you agree?

"Sexuality is for the conjugal love of a man and woman.....Sexuality is a source of joy and pleasure...(sex) is not simply biological, but concerns the innermost being of the person. "(C.C. 2361)

Oh wait, didn't they mention that sex was only reserved for procreation? Where did this "joy and pleasure" come from?

"Fornication, is carnal union between an unmarried man and unmarried woman. It is gravely contrary to the dignity of persons and of human sexuality." (C.C. 2353)

People do not have sex to strengthen their dignity. Nor do they lose dignity by choosing to have sex. They have sex because it is natural (and it feels good).

"Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband." (Corinthians 7:2)

So basically, if you don't get married, you are not allowed to have sex. How many people marry each other just to be free to orgasm?

"It is not up to the Church to determine exactly how a married couple should express conjugal love to each other."  (United Church of God)

Hmm... but it IS up to the Church to determine what unmarried people do with their bodies?

"Marriage [is] honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge." (Hebrews 14:4)

If you have sex before marriage, you will be judged. But even if your marriage is dysfunctional and abusive, that's more accepted than premarital sex. Makes sense.

"But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." (Matthew 5:28)

Careful, guys! Admiring that female bartender - even without actually acting on your feelings - might save you a slot in hell.

"It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God"  (Thessalonians 4:3-5)

"Thus, the Bible forbids all sexual relations outside of marriage. But the Scriptures don't specifically address what is acceptable lovemaking within marriage, including the question of oral sex." (United Church of God)

So you can only have sex if you're married. But even then, you still have to follow the rules. Missionary position. The end.

HOMOSEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS

The Bible does not clearly state anything against gay marriage, but you can be sure that Christians will pull out certain verses and twist them into some kind of defunct evidence. If God created every man and woman, then he created homosexual individuals as well, right? The Church stresses that homosexuality is a choice, and that it cannot possibly be a natural occurrence to feel emotion or physical attraction towards the same sex. Do they honestly believe that people would choose a life in which they face nothing but harassment, hatred and judgment?

"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them." (Leviticus 20:13)

So, a man lying with another man deserves to be killed, but yet the Bible justifies certain cases of rape? It's a wonder more people don't submit themselves to such a religion.

"Every human being is called to receive a gift of divine sonship, to become a child of God by grace. However, to receive this gift, we must reject sin, including homosexual behavior—that is, acts intended to arouse or stimulate a sexual response regarding a person of the same sex. The Catholic Church teaches that such acts are always violations of divine and natural law." (Catholic Answers)

What part of this statement do the pedophile priests not understand?

"Homosexual desires, however, are not in themselves sinful. People are subject to a wide variety of sinful desires over which they have little direct control, but these do not become sinful until a person acts upon them, either by acting out the desire or by encouraging the desire and deliberately engaging in fantasies about acting it out."

The desires and urges are natural, but homosexuality itself is not?

"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even [1] their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also [2] the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense [penalty] of their error which was meet [due]" (Rom. 1:26-27)

Here, the Bible suggests that homosexual acts are "vile," and implies that both homosexual men and lesbians deny the "natural use of the woman." I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that women were only granted permission on earth to have nothing but heterosexual intercourse and reproduce.
