Gaza is still in ruins one year after the 51-day war Israel called “Operation Protective Edge.” 2,251 Palestinians and 73 Israelis were killed. The situation is desperate for the 1.8 million people who live in Gaza, which is called by some, "the world's largest open air prison."

100,000 Palestinians remain homeless and Gaza has the highest unemployment in the world. The territory hasn't been allowed to rebuild, and the majority of Gaza's children are showing signs of extreme emotional distress.

The residents are living amid rubble and despair, wondering how much more they will have to endure.
