'KHADAK' A POWERFUL MONGOLIAN FILM

NOMADS GET KICKED OFF THEIR LAND. FORCED TO WORK IN COAL MINE. A YOUNG SHAMAN DECIDES TO FIGHT BACK

The film starts out following a family that lives a nomadic lifestyle out on the Mongolian steppe with their animals. A fatherless young man named Bagi lives with his mother and grandfather. He has periodic seizures, which are said to be a sign of his shamanistic abilities. During these seizures, he has visions and premonitions. In one of the visions he sees the end of their nomadic lifestyle. This premonition comes to pass when the government forces the relocation of the nomads on the pretext of an "unknown plague." The family ends up getting relocated to a coal mine where they are relegated to spend the rest of their days in toil and labor. Many of the nomads are institutionalized when they cannot come to terms with their new soul crushing life style. Others decide to fight back.

While we won't go into too much detail about this film, we do believe it is a powerful, emotional portrayal about what is happening to people in the third world, about the people on the other end of today's economic system.
